Day 1 of the SDI Open Water Course

Start your journey to becoming a certified diver Today!

Extreme Watersport's "Introductory to SCUBA program" is a unique new way to start your diving adventure. Learn all the important theory and skills required to become a SCUBA diver in this all inclusive one day program. If you enjoy diving continue on with another two days of training, including 3 shore dives and 2 boat dives to become a fully qualified SDI Open Water SCUBA Diver and dive independently anywhere in the world!

 

Schedule

9:00AM-10:00AM, Introduction's theory & liability releases


10:00AM-11:00am, Gear assembly


11:00am-12:30PM Pool Session or Open Water session, 10 minute tread water, Basic SCUBA skills


12:30pm-1pm Lunch


1pm-2PM, Debrief, Disassemble & Wash-down

Please allow for the fact that the day may begin anytime from 9:00AM and conclude anytime before 5:00PM, the course schedule will be confirmed about prior to commencement.

Course Overview

​

Experience day 1 of the comprehensive 3 day SDI Open Water course you will complete classroom theory lessons learn all about SCUBA, the equipment we use and the local diving environment.. Then you instructor will fit you out in your very own SCUBA kit and show you how to assemble and disassemble it before heading to the pool so you can take your very first breathes underwater.. Under the guidance of your SDI Instructor you will learn how to safely complete all the skills of the Open Water Course.

Who this course is for:
Any person over the age of 12 wanting to obtain a Scuba Diving certification. Or anybody interested in learning more about the underwater environment.

This course is an introductory only, but a great value way to try before you buy.. If you like day one come back to complete the rest of your training to obtain your SDI Open Water Certification. No previous experience is necessary!

Course Prerequisites:
Minimum age 18, 12 with parental consent

What you can expect to learn:
The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Course will cover all of the necessary skills and knowledge for open water scuba diving, including:

The aquatic environment: vision, light, sound, heat loss, tides, currents, waves, surge, etc.Physics and physiology: buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, breathing compressed air, mixed gases, etc. Dive planning

Dive equipment selection, assembly, use and maintenance

Basic scuba skills including mask and regulator skills, swimming underwater, buoyancy control, basic rescue techniques, and emergency procedures

 

What’s in it for you?
Upon completion of the Introductory to SCUBA students can continue on with day 2 & 3 of the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course. SDI Open Water graduates may: Conduct open water dives independently, anywhere in the world in conditions similar to their training.

Gradutes may also choose to continue their dive education by enrolling in SDI Advanced Diver and Specialty courses

Road transport to and from Pool (approximately 6kms)

Liability Releases and Medical Statements
Liability release: All students will be required to complete a liability release prior to undertaking training, please review the attached liability release, if there are any terms you are unhappy with, please contact us to dicuss.

Medical Statement: All students must complete a Medical Statement, prior to undertaking training. Please review the attached Medical Statement if you are able to answer "No" to all questions you will not require a medical certificate to complete this course. If you answer "Yes" to any question you will require a Medical certificate stating you are fit to SCUBA dive.

These forms are attached below for you to review prior to attending the course, do not print or complete these forms prior to the course, your instructors will review these with you and complete them at the time of training.
